Ever wonder what it would be like to be intuitive AND work in the fashion industry?
I did, so I asked my friend and fashion designer, Francesca oh! Here’s a bit of our conversation. (Check out the photo shoot of me in some of her amazing clothes!)
Nancy: Tell me about your business.
Francesca: My business is basically a healer that happens to do fashion as my art. I’m basically here to clear the negative energy around self-image.
Nancy: How do you do that?
Francesca: Through Five Element Fashion. Five Element Fashion is based on the ancient Chinese medicine Five Element Theory, which is the basis of acupuncture. In this theory the five elements are tied to five organs in the body: earth and spleen, metal and lung, water and kidney, wood and liver, and fire and heart. It works by explaining your physical and mental self and how you express this through your body shape, emotions, colors, and preferences. By understanding this you can heal yourself and feel more confident about yourself. By learning about your inner essence, which is your inner beauty, you can clear negative energy around your own self-image.
Nancy: How do you bring intuition into your work?
Francesca: Every moment I bring intuition into my work. It’s constant. For example, there are moments where I am creating and I have to be ok that it isn’t quite there yet. When I was designing a new piece and it wasn’t coming together I had to be ok with being uncomfortable for a while and then I was able to see how this works. The design for the new piece came! If I had closed up my intuition, I would not have ever figured it out. This is how you use intuition. You have to be ok with being unhappy for a while and to just ride with it.
Nancy: How do you foster your own intuition?
Francesca: Through creating mostly. When I go to sleep I set an intention and this helps. This is a form of meditation for me.
Nancy: Do you have any recommendations for others on increasing intuition?
Francesca: Be in your right brain. Draw upside down or backwards. Dance is a great way to get into your body. Become more aware of your dreams.
